With just about a month to go before the Blackhawks open NHL training camp in Chicago, players will be accelerating their off season workout regimens in preparation for the season.
Some players who will partake in the rookie tournament in early September will need to be in peak condition sooner.
With that in mind, the Blackhawks, in cooperation with the Djurgarden hockey club in Stockholm, are conducting a conditioning mini-camp this week in Sweden.
It’s an annual summer tradition now for the club, organized by Barry Smith, the Blackhawks Director of Player Development.
Players expected to take part in this week’s mini-camp include:
Marko Dano
Artemi Panarin
Viktor Tikhonov
Joakim Nordstrom
David Rundblad
Erik Gustafsson
Ryan Hartman
Ville Pokka
Viktor Svedberg
Robin Norell
Robin Press
Dennis Rasmussen
Tanner Kero
Vince Hinostroza
Roy Radke
*Since Artemi Panarin skipped July’s prospect camp (technically he could have participated, but he was not required) these will be Panarin’s first workouts as a Blackhawk property.
*Toronto Maple Leafs prospect William Nylander, a Chicago native, will also take part in the week’s workouts. Nylander played for Blackhawks developmental skills coach Anders Sorensen when Nylander played for the Chicago Mission.
*Other players may be involved. This is the list confirmed by the Djurgarden club. Some listed above may not take full participation in on-ice workouts. Tuesday’s workouts will be open to the public and will be held in conjunction with a visit from Marcus Kruger and the Stanley Cup.
